Welcoming our new Young National Correspondent for Italy

We are pleased to welcome Stefano Ponti as our new Young National Correspondent for Italy to the GTN-P community!
Stefano is a Tenure-Track Researcher at the University of Insubria. After earning his PhD in Environmental Sciences in 2018, he has focused his research on permafrost dynamics. His current work combines fieldwork with remote sensing and thermography, specifically targeting active layer thickness modelling. As seasoned field scientist, Stefano has participated in multiple expeditions to the Arctic (Svalbard and Alaska), Antarctica (Signy Island and North Victoria Land), and the European Alps. He has served as a convenor and co-convenor at major international conferences, including ICOP 2024, SCAR 2024, and ACOP 2026, and is currently the Principal Investigator of the EU HORIZON-funded project PECOACT.
